We connect donors directly with verified families in the rural Philippines — deploying solar power and food, and tracking every delivery from donor to doorstep.
How we started
Founded by people who lived it
Power A Family was founded by Michael George and Juvy Garces, a couple whose lives are rooted in both the United States and the rural Philippines. Juvy grew up in Ilocos Sur and knows firsthand the toll that storms and power loss take on families there; Michael spent years watching that reality from afar, unable to help. When they were finally in a position to do more than send help home, they built Power A Family — to connect donors directly with verified families, and to make sure real, practical help actually reaches them. On the ground in Ilocos Sur, that means Hermalyn Basa, who visits every family in person before they ever appear on the platform. Because there is always a next storm.

Our mission
Real help, transparently delivered
Across the rural Philippines, every storm season knocks out power for days or weeks at a time — cutting families off from light, phone charging, and the ability to call for help when it matters most. Power A Family exists to change that, one verified family at a time.
Our model is simple and fully transparent. Every family is personally verified on the ground before they appear on the platform. Donors are matched directly with a family, and every solar kit and food delivery is tracked from donor to doorstep — with exactly how each dollar is allocated published for anyone to see.
"In Ilocos Sur, the next storm is never a question of if. We built this because families there deserve the same certainty of light that we take for granted."

MG
Michael George
Co-Founder & CEO
United States
Michael spent years watching the people Juvy loves lose power after every storm — close enough to care, too far away to do anything about it. When they were finally in a position to act, he built the platform that makes verification, tracking, and donor transparency possible. He leads strategy, technology, and donor relations.

Juvy grew up in Ilocos Sur, Philippines — where typhoon season meant candles, silence, and waiting. She watched her family lose power for days after every storm, and that lived memory is the foundation every standard we hold ourselves to is built on. She leads community relations, family verification, and cultural integrity across the platform.
