Recipient Notice & Consent
This notice is a working draft being finalized with legal counsel in the Philippines and the United States. Bracketed items in [square brackets] are placeholders to be completed. It explains, in plain terms, how we handle the information of families who apply for support.
Who this is for
This notice is for families in the Philippines who apply to receive solar power and food support through Power A Family. It explains what information we collect, why, how we protect it, and what we may share publicly — and asks for your consent.
What we collect and why
When you apply, we collect:
- Your name, household size, province and municipality, and a description of your situation — so we can understand your needs and assess your application.
- Your contact details — phone, address (at least your barangay), Facebook, and email — so our team can verify your application and reach you. You may provide whichever contact methods work best for you.
- During verification and deployment, our ground team may record notes and take photographs of the support provided.
How we protect your information
Your contact details and exact location are treated as private, administrator-only information. They are stored with access controls that make them readable only by our authorized team — they are never displayed on the public website and cannot be retrieved through our public interfaces.
What may be shown publicly
To connect you with donors, we may publicly display limited, non-identifying information about your family only after your application is approved and only with your consent. This may include a first name or family descriptor, your province (never your exact address), a general description of your situation, and photos or update notes you have agreed to share.
You may decline public sharing and still be considered for support where possible, and you may ask us to stop sharing or to remove published information at any time.
Verification
Every family is verified by our team on the ground before appearing on the platform. Verification helps ensure support reaches real families in genuine need.
No guarantee of selection or funding
Submitting an application does not guarantee that you will be selected or funded. Selection depends on verification, available funding, and need.
Your rights
Under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), you have the right to be informed about, access, correct, and request deletion or blocking of your personal information, to object to processing, to withdraw consent, and to file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission (privacy.gov.ph). To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@powerafamily.org or our Data Protection Officer at [DPO name / email].
Your consent
By submitting an application, you confirm that the information you provide is true to the best of your knowledge and you consent to our collecting and using it to verify your family, coordinate support, and contact you. Public sharing of any information about your family will occur only after approval and with your separate agreement, which you may withdraw at any time.
